Narcos - Pablo Escobar

Notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar in “Narcos” Netflix series: how to watch

Netflix to bring back to life the charismatic trafficker and politician Pablo Escobar in a Netflix Original Series Narcos.

Narcos is fast becoming one of the most talked about and anticipated new shows of 2015 with Netflix due to start streaming the 10 episode series on 28 August 2015.

An all-new take on the amazing story of the Medellin Cartel, once the world’s most ambitious and violent trafficking organization, Narcos reunites the creators of the ultimate Brazilian cop action and political film, Elite Squad: Moura (Elysium) and Padilha (Robocop).

The ten episode initial season of Narcos was filmed in Colombia.

“Jose and Wagner together created one of the most sophisticated and chilling portraits of criminality and official corruption ever in their Elite Squad movies,” said Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos. “Their version of the Escobar saga will be like nothing ever seen before.”

“Our idea is to tell the true story of how cocaine became such a huge problem in the U.S. and Europe – and how it all started here in Medellin,” said Padilha, now preparing Narcos in Colombia.

“We are so thrilled to be working with Jose and Eric on this gripping and timeless story,” said Katie O’Connell, Chief Executive Officer, Gaumont International Television. “Netflix is the perfect partner to launch this series and we are happy to be working once again with the amazing team there.”

“3%” WILL BE THE FIRST NETFLIX ORIGINAL SERIES 100% MADE IN BRAZIL

Starring João Miguel and Bianca Comparato, the futuristic thriller will debut on Netflix USA in 2016
Aug 05, 2015
Netflix LogoSão Paulo — Netflix has announced its first Brazilian Netflix original series, “3%”, which will start filming in early 2016 and will debut exclusively on Netflix later in the year.

Produced by Boutique Filmes, the first season, will be directed by Oscar® nominated Cesar Charlone (City of God, Blindness), starring João Miguel (Estômago, Xingu, Felizes Para Sempre?) and Bianca Comparato (Avenida Brasil, Sete Vidas, Irmã Dulce).

“3%” is a dramatic thriller that brings viewers into a world divided into progress and devastation. The once-in-a-lifetime chance to pass to the ‘better side’ is through a cruel – and not always fair – process where only 3% of the candidates succeed. “Ultimately, the series questions the dynamics of society that imposes constant selection processes we all have to go through, whether we like it or not”, says Cesar Charlone.

“Partnering with one of the most innovative networks in the world is very exciting. Netflix willingness to invest in Brazilian content, local talent and creative storytelling is key for our growth as a industry”, says Tiago Mello, the Executive Producer of the show. “The story was originally created a few years ago and now I am thrilled that it will turn into a completely new original Netflix series”.

“We look forward to working with such an acclaimed team for our first Netflix Original production entirely shot in Brazil”, says Erik Barmack VP, Independent and Local Content. “We are confident that this fascinating premise will be widely enjoyed by our members internationally”.

Written by Pedro Aguilera and produced by Boutique Filmes, “3%” will be filmed in Ultra HD 4K.
